A Random Chair

This lovely and loved (read 'beat up') oak chair was found

on the side of the road.  It was painted over in an ugly brown,

had random planks nailed to it to make a seat, and had

'chair bondage' with wires drilled through the legs for

cross support!  The poor thing!

The entire chair was sanded down (palm sander, then

tedious hand sanding), parts were knocked apart to re-nail

and re-glue them, the 'chair bondage' was removed,

and then the long process of staining and varnishing

it began.  The stain turned out great, my varnishing skills

need a little improvement.

A piece of plywood was cut to size, routed to round the top

edges a bit, and then covered with a piece of foam and

fabric that came off eBay.  Yay, a chair!
